Emma's 4th Birthday!

My oldest daughter, Emma, celebrated her 4th year of life this last week. She helped make and decorate cupcakes, and she requested her favorite lunch, PB&J!!! We got her a Snow White barbie and a Prince Charming barbie - we figured it was about time, she doesn't have any guys in her collection. And Grandpa and Grammie J came over the next day with pizza and presents and we got to have cupcakes again and sing the birthday song again, which she thought was really cool.

Emma's birth was a hellish ordeal that I try not to revisit very often, but look at what fabulous results. She is the most compassionate and caring four year old I have ever met. She is very sensitive to the needs of everyone around her. She is incredibly smart, although she very much likes to learn things on her own time table. If she watches a show twice, she can have that thing memorized. She loves to try and read books, and have them read to her. She loves singing and is surprisingly on pitch most of the time :) The girl dances, skips and bounces more than she actually walks. She loves her family so much and is extremely excited to meet her new baby brother. Emma is also a serious little firecracker, which I am assuming she gets from me :) She is as stubborn as the day is long, but loves to help out with anything. She asks most days what she can do for "chores." She loves her friends, Haylee and Rylee, Sam, and Alli. And she misses her old friends Kimball, Andrew and Hyrum. She is one of the best kids I know, and I am so glad that she is ours. It is especially poignant for me right now, to look back at her baby pictures and wonder how she ever used to be that small. Here are some of my favorites...
